Healthy Living: We place great emphasis on the prevention of disease. If we believe your current lifestyle is affecting your health, or if you are diagnosed with a long-term condition, as part of your ongoing care we will help you to make changes to your lifestyle. We will also signpost you to appropriate and relevant treatments and information to help you make those changes.
Long-term conditions and chronic disease: If you are diagnosed with a long-term or chronic condition you will be invited to join our monitoring and check-up services.
Common childhood illness: When Should I Worry? Your guide to coughs, colds, earaches and sore throats. Alternatively, this link takes you to a free app, HANDI Paediatric, developed by the paediatricians at Musgrove Park, Taunton. It is useful for parents and clinicians alike looking after children with the most common childhood illnesses. It is available for both Apple and Android operating systems.
Baby immunisation clinics: Our practice nurses holds regular sessions. You will be invited to attend with your child when required.
Child health: Our GP carries out child assessment examinations at the medical centre regularly.
Maternity care: All doctors can provide maternity services and in most cases you will be referred to one of our on-site midwives.
Family planning: The doctors and practice nurses can provide family planning advice and emergency contraception. There is a confidential youth service for contraceptive and other advice available from the visiting nursing team. Clinics are held every Wednesday afternoon.
Minor injuries: The nearest unit is at the Cumberland Centre [PL1 4JZ].
Minor surgery: Some of our doctors and our Advanced Nurse Practitioner offer a minor surgery service. Please ask our reception team for details.
Other Services: Blood tests; chronic disease clinics; dietary and alcohol advice; smoking cessation; heart disease prevention advice; menopause advice; cervical smears; travel clinics and travel immunisation; family planning; NHS Health Checks; carers health checks; health checks for patients with learning difficulties; immunisations such as seasonal flu, pneumovax and shingles; immunisation catch-up programmes.
Non-NHS services: Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following: medicals for pre-employment, sports and driving requirements [HGV, PSV etc]; insurance claim forms; prescriptions for taking medication abroad; private sick notes; and vaccination certificates
Help with health costs: You may qualify for help with health costs if you or your family receive any of the following: income support; income-based Job Seeker's Allowance; income-related Employment Support Allowance; Pension Credit Guarantee Credit; Working or Child Tax Credit NHS Exemption Certificate; Universal Credit [Limited Eligibility].
If you do not receive these benefits but are, for instance, in receipt of Disability Living Allowance or a small private pension, you can also apply for a NHS Low Income Scheme certificate. Students and carers may also be eligible. Simply ask for an HC1 form at your hospital, Jobcentre, dentist or optician or call Help with Health Costs on 0300 330 1343 for help and advice on completing the form.

Referrals and choice: Please click the link below to find out how referrals to consultants and other health professionals are managed by the Devon Referral Support Service [DRSS]. The DRSS will help you to choose the most appropriate hospital or healthcare setting by giving you the information you need about the availability of services.
NHS dental services: Patients in need of urgent care should contact their own dentist. In the out-of-hours period, patients with an urgent dental problem should call 01392 823682.
A dental helpline is available to assist patients to find a NHS dental service, this maybe for someone who wants to find a local practice to join for routine care, or have an urgent treatment need. The helpline can be contacted on 01392 822348 or 0845 0020034, between 8am and 6pm, from Monday to Friday. Alternatively, you can email email@example.com. However, please note, in areas where access to a NHS dentist is difficult there may be a waiting list in operation.
